Creating characters is one of my favourite parts of the animation process: All the doors are open, the character could be anyone, anything and you never know what the client is going to go for. When done right it’s a pleasant surprise for both parties and it comes to life (at least for me) even before it’s moving.
I love keeping all the characters that don’t make the cut, which is what gave birth to my ‘Unemployed characters’ side project. Sometimes, some of them come back, be it for another client or for one of my own projects. Some may have even came back in the doodles I hide in my son’s lunchbox every day.
I wish there was room for all of them here… but you get the idea.
